Data is aggregated from three separate sources. The different icons on the map indicate which source is used for that particular position report.

• WINLINK position reports are transmitted from the boat via Ham radio.
• YOTREPS is an alternative reporting system, also transmitted via ham radio. YOTREPS reports may often be transmitted at the same time as WINLINK reports. YOTREPS reports may not be quite as accurate as WINLINK reports.
• Blog Posts are transmitted via email. These position reports represent any blog posts that include the location in the transmission. All of these transmissions have an associated blog post in the main blog, but not all blog posts necessarily have locations.
